This 6" vacuum chuck is precision-machined from aluminum, suitable for your vacuum woodturning projects.

The chuck is fitted with a ring of neoprene which is applied to the rim of the chuck so it will conform to slightly out of round pieces.

The chuck has a taper insert so it has to be used with the taper-lock adaptor. Check what kind of screw thread of your lathe spindle, then purchase the suitable taper-lock adaptor.

This vacuum chuck is screwed on the lathe spindle and on back of the spindle, screwed the vacuum adapter which allows air to be extracted through the shaft while turning.

Pay Attention:

It's a good idea to always use the largest chuck that will fit a workpiece.

Do not use the vacuum cleaner on wet or freshly oiled wood. The moisture is sucked out of the wood and destroys the motor!

Don't make the bottom of the bowl too thin. The bang when the floor is sucked out by the vacuum is tremendous.

How tight your shell sits on the vacuum chuck depends on the quality of your wood and the amount of surface area in the chuck.

What else do I need for vacuum clamping?

In order to work well with vacuum on a lathe, you need a number of things. A reliable pump, pipes, taps and gauges and a coupler / adapter for the lathe spindle.
